Mike Holmgren wants to coach again. While Holgren was unable to turn around the Cleveland Browns the former coach apparently wants to try again in Dallas.
CBSSports.com’s Jason La Canfora told “The NFL Today” on Sunday that Holmgren — after his unsuccessful stint as president of the Browns — has “serious interest” in coaching the Dallas Cowboys. Of course this would require that the Cowboys fire Jason Garrett.
The Cowboys position is attractive to Holmgrem because of the talent on the roster. Holgren is also sa id to have a good relationship with team owner Jerry Jones.
There is no indication from the Cowboys how much interest they would have in hiring Holmgren who previous coached the Seattle Seahawks and Green Bay Packers.
It is also unclear how well a marriage between Holmgren and Jones would work. Holmgren typically has demanded more control over a teams roster while Jones recently said he would not step down from the role of general manger.
Holgren is not the first name to be mentioned for the position of Cowboys head coach, last week rumors started that Sean Payton could become the teams head coach.
